Are they a good choice for just an operational, corporate account? Considering UBS (and Credit Suisse) are having issues lately, while CIM Banque is giving us a headache.

this is totally new for me... does it mean you have to hold such a balance all the time or on average (which wouldn't make sense to me) or is it just an initial deposit (to prove one belongs there) you're free to move away?

It's the balance they expect you to keep and invest through them, that's how they make money.
