Best tropical place to live?

If he is looking for entrepreneurs and hustlers, BKK, Jakarta,⁤ HCMC, Danang, and Bali would be the destinations.
Not really the 'tropical destinations' I'd imagine,⁣ outside of the last two. And yeah, price/value in both is hard to beat, Danang⁢ standing out as a winner - if he can handle the Vietnamese hustle and 3︀ month visa runs. If not, Bali visas are for longer, and the island offers many︁ different locations for everyone. Indonesia itself offers so much more, if one doesn't need the︂ 'entrepreneurs', 'influencers' and 'onlyfans instagram models' 'working' on their laptop at the beach.
 
It is very underdeveloped. Have you been there?

Looks nice enough for a visit, but probably not what⁤ I'm looking for (I would be bored), but also.... I'm skeptical about the weather.
Weather must be similar to Hong Kong? Hong Kong can get really cold in winter.

I have thought about⁢ Madeira, but weather probably can't be warmer than the Canary Islands? I checked the temperatures︀ in the Canary Islands for spring last year (March/April), and when I checked, it was︁ 14 degrees and raining. That's not what I'm looking for.
 
BKK is nice. Noise/pollution are my main complaint, but I guess there⁣ are quieter/more walkable neighborhoods somewhere. Lack of walkability would be my main complaint about the⁢ UAE as well, but for example in Abu Dhabi, you have some nice areas that︀ are walkable.

I didn't like Jakarta and HCMC - huge, soulless cities, everything looked the︁ same. Haven't been to Danang, but I've read that a lot of people don't like︂ it. Would be willing to check it out though.

Haven't been to Bali in a︆ long time. That kind of demographic would be my main concern.
That's also something I︇ don't like about Dubai - all the fake people, "influencers" etc., many people there are︈ very superficial. But you can also meet friendly, down-to-earth people, you just have to look︉ for them.

looking at the weather forecast for the Canary islands doesn't help 😉
the ocean is cold⁣ (I'm spoiled but still) during winter but it's pretty good in general - I'd definitely⁢ recommend Tenerife when it comes to climate... southern coast (Las Americas, Costa Adeje, El Medano...)︀ is mostly sunny and warm while 5 km up the hill (Arona or San Miguel︁ for example) it can be 15 degrees and raining and while in the Teide caldera︂ 5 easily with the blue sky again 😉
speaking purely about weather... the rest is another︃ story but worth considering
 
Yeah, that's the other thing, I would imagine that the Canary Islands have a strong‌ seasonal/vacation vibe and would be pretty dead in winter.
I would prefer a place that‍ has regular life.
Really, Dubai and Abu Dhabi are quite nice. I just wish they⁠ were more walkable, and that it was a bit nicer all around (many areas look⁤ kind of dead especially at night, just some orange street lights, otherwise it's very dark,⁣ you still see a lot of random sand plots and construction all around, etc.)
But once you're in an area where construction is finished, it's very nice.
Ok, and I'm⁢ not a fan of the materialism and how everything seems very focused on going out︀ and drinking, going to expensive restaurants etc.
 
A study cited Canary Islands as the place with the best⁠ climate in the world so the fact that you once checked and it was raining⁤ it doesn't mean anything.

Also, weather conditions could change drasticly depending where you checked.

In Tenerife north for example there could be 13 degrees with fog and rain while in⁣ Tenerife south 30 degrees with sun. All thanks to the Teide volcano that sits in⁢ the middle of the island blocking clouds from the north creating a very greeny part︀ of the island in the north where often rains and a drier part of the︁ island in the south.

You could have rain, fog, snow and sun with 30° all︂ within few hours of car driving.

Incredible experience.

Beside Canary Islands you'll find similar conditions︃ in Medellin and Boquete (lots of expats there)
 
Danang is actually not so bad, less busy, noisy and polluted︃ than HCMC and located just next to a beach. Lots of quality food and 5*︄ places for peanuts, but it's still VN, so that 'walking' isn't really the best way︅ to go around (outside of the beach promenade), and noise pollution is a part of︆ life. Good and cheap flight connections though, and local people are much nicer than in︇ HCMC. I enjoyed my bi-weekly pilates classes with Russian girls there, but to be honest,︈ it gets a bit boring after a month or two.

Well, if you want something︉ as developed as UAE, even London and Frankfurt might not fulfill your needs.

I think︊ the only options might be Hawaii, or maybe Panama? Cape Verde would be good for︋ the weather I think, but not developed enough. Wait, why not Acapulco/Mexico like Jeff Berwick?︌
 
It's also pretty dull off-season, property prices are crazy and⁠ it's one of the illegal immigration hotspots these days. Climate is nice though.
 
miami + caribbeans any day of the week over EU + tenerife. but this as‌ a dynamic entrepreneur... that still need the drive, the thrill to feel alive, that has‍ money and like to spend for fun and comfort.
if you just want to chill⁠ doing nothing and exploring dead places, then... tenerife and eu.
the kind of ambitious people⁤ you casually meet in miami... you don't meet in tenerife, that's for sure!
must plan⁣ your visa for long term in miami though and taxation. but there's plenty of ways⁢ for that too.

mind you i have relatives in tenerife... I hate the place, hate︀ the dark shitty beaches, the cold water, the poor quality of every job and product,︁ hate the mindset. the "mañana syndrome" and poor customer service piss me off so much︂ you couldn't believe it...
it's just a cheap destination for cheap folks. and they are︃ bugged by the EU mindset, complaining about tourists that are feeding their families... without them︄ they would be still raising sheep to survive:

Bahamas, if you are bored 30mins to Miami for a weekend trip. And they have‌ a CBP preclearance facility in Nassau, so its like a domestic flight to arrive in‍ Miami without stress!

That's a given. But where in the Carribean? I also think I'll have to check out⁠ Miami again.
That said, I really think the UAE is pretty great. Just the rents⁤ for premium real estate are so ridiculously high. But maybe I'll just have to make⁣ more money.
 
Isn't it the case that if you have a⁠ small shop or restaurant in the Canary Islands and live there, you either pay no⁤ tax or only a very low percentage?
 
There are ways to pay low tax in the⁠ Canary Islands thanks to some incentives.

Without talking about ZEC (zona especial Canaria) that has⁤ some requirements and investments to be made there's RIC (reserva de inversion Canaria) that exempts up to 90% of your profits for the year.

Those untaxed profits must⁣ be used to make investments in the Canary Islands (buying real estate and so on).⁢

Yes, at some point you'll have to pay taxes but in the meantime you created︀ yourself a real estate empire.
