Best tropical place to live?

the island is full of American tourists and cruise ship passengers, most‍ beaches are crowded

I don't remember when this was an issue last time anywhere....

it's a⁤ former colony (de facto still is), people speak Dutch and the only (or vast majority⁣ of) flights to Europe are to AMS....

I was thinking i read⁤ somewhere that if you can become a permanent resident of curacao then you get an⁣ automatic right to stay in netherlands also.can anybody second this. How is the tax situation there⁢ can i run my offshore business from there and not get taxed to death. Then i︀ can stay alternate months maybe between curacao and phillipines. When it heats up i can be︁ in the UK or Novosibirsk or even spend time in the Netherlands based on being︂ permanent resident of curacao.

this is most likely nonsense but DYOR

Dutch (and US citizens) have special‍ treatment when it comes to staying long-term in ABC islands but not vice-versa AFAIK

holders of the passport of Curacao can travel visa free to Schengen - which doesn't mean‌ (using your own words) residents in Curacao have right to stay in Netherlands - again..‍ just my opinion, anything is possible

The natives of Dutch territories (incl. Curaçao) hold Dutch citizenship and thus are EU citizens.

There aren't that many options out there. Dubai︅ is pretty superior, but the overpriced rents are pretty annoying. Only a few areas are︆ worth living in.

Bangkok might be good as well, offering very high value for money︇ in terms of housing. You could get a large apartment in the Four Seasons Residences︈ for maybe 5k per month, I guess.

Maybe you are right but i will double check this because i am not 100% sure when they⁤ are talking about residents being able to go live in Netherlands.I thought all permanent residents⁣ would have the same rights.Because the investor residency program that they have is pointing towards⁢ that possibility only that they can be staying in Netherlands.
Edit:- However from a tax︀ perspective it may not be that great as Curacao probably taxes worldwide income( who gave︁ them that idea - the US?)

Have they fixed the submarine cables in the‌ Red Sea for Internet access yet?
At least Starlink still works.

Just saying you could‍ consider living in paradise on the Yemen island of Socotra smi(&%. One of the most beautiful islands in the world

Exactly. And you can easily pay $10k per month for something nice in Dubai.

Yes, or Malaysia. Definitely much better⁢ value for money than Dubai...
Good to see that you understand what I'm after!

Really depends on what you're looking for.
But basically Downtown and Palm Jumeirah.‌ There are also some family-friendly communities like Arabian Ranches and Al Bahari, but I haven't‍ been there.
But prices are crazy everywhere.

I think Four Season Residences in BKK is more around USD10k per month for their nice apartments. 5-6k is for their "small" standard apartments.

Anyhow, why paying this much for a high rise apartment in Bangkok? It's not a house either (even though it might be better due to noise and pollution on ground level).

Terrible value compared to the local market I'd say. Even going through platforms, I can find nice Airbnbs for twice cheaper.

But if you are truly HNW I guess you would not care about the price difference, I guess you get more convenience living in Four Seasons.

Not sure I'm getting the joke here. I have met people from Socotra. The poverty is just sad. I believe 80% or so of the population can't even read or⁤ write?

I agree, FS Residences‍ generally seem way overpriced. You pay for the brand.
But it's an indication that something nice exists - if there are FS Residences, you could probably find something comparable for⁤ 50-30% less without the brand name, as you said.
In places that don't even have⁣ something like that, it probably doesn't exist on the regular market either.

They feel quite impersonal as well. It must be hard to make them feel like home. Glorified Hotels/Investment Airbnbs from the portfolios I have looked at.
