Secure chat to replace wickr

Already mentioned but am only here to confirm: Session is the only good app to‌ replace wickr if not BETTER! No sign up details needed!

Yes, it still is alive,‍ plenty of information in there nowadays too but of the low quality, nothing you probably don't know.

And I had forgotten about keet.io, someone might find it useful.

Did you try this? Its‌ the project run by Paolo from Bitfinex and Tether. Last time I checked it had‍ only windows app

yah, I do. its nice too. I use it‍ quite a lot.
Can also be used as self hosted.

Can we use Wickr and Session for Video call like Skype and MS meet ?‌ if not, what would be a secured video call program ?

I only need it for a single video call during the next weeks after that I don't have a need for such for some time.

Let's not forget that the prime function of any chat is to be able to‌ reach out and to connect other people. What is a point to use unpopular apps,‍ which are used by less than 1% of your contacts? It's usless. So the good chat is a popular chat in the first place. Just whatsapp and skype can encompass⁤ 70% of the earth population. And if you need some specific markets such as China,⁣ Thailand or Philippines, you could always add relevant apps such as wechat, line, viber to⁢ be covered completely.

IMHO it's a mere bs to overthink regarding security. All popular chats︀ are encrypted and secure enough to keep your conversations private. If you are someone like︁ Pablo Escobar and one day CIA decided to track you down, "secure" chat or protonmail︂ wouldn't help you.

Exactly.

You'll end up installing the top 3 most popular ones to⁤ cover 60% of your contacts, and if you're like me, you will have to nag⁣ people to install at least one of them.

1. Buy a Pixel phone and prepaid⁢ anonymous SIM with cash.

2. Wipe the device before you insert the SIM and install︀ Graphene OS. It's not as hard as it sounds.

3. Install the top 3 most︁ secure chat apps that you need and move on with your life.

This is honestly︂ the best you can do at this time.

1. If your business contacts can't︃ take reasonable precautions to protect sensitive information, are they really worth doing business with?

2. Privacy isn't measured in absolutes. Just because you can't mitigate 100% of threats, doesn't mean︄ you shouldn't take reasonable steps to stay safe. It's kind of like saying don't bother︅ locking your door because someone can still break the window. The more steps you can︆ take, the better.

3. I wouldn't suggest using whatsapp due to their policy on pen︇ registering (they keep a list of who you contact, and when). I wouldn't suggest Skype.︈

4. There are tons of reasons to want to ensure privacy and confidentiality other than︉ being Pablo Escobar.
