Hello everyone,
I run an online shop where I sell in-game currencies and items for various online games (for example, WoW Gold) and I'm using paypal as payment option.
In PayPal's Acceptable Use Policy (link), I found a section under "Cryptocurrency" that mentions:
However, I assume this mainly refers to games or platforms directly tied to cryptocurrencies, not classic MMO in-game gold like WoW Gold.
My shop has been operating for several years now, registered as a sole proprietorship, and I pay regular taxes and VAT. I've never had any major issues with PayPal and my chargeback rate is extremely low.
Recently, though, I heard from other shop owners that PayPal closed their accounts without clear reasons.
I wanted to ask if anyone knows whether selling in-game currencies/items could be a risk factor for PayPal account closures?
Also, I noticed that some shops in the same niche have been using Stripe as a payment option for quite a while, even though Stripe's terms of service technically prohibit businesses selling virtual currencies and in-game items.
Does anyone know how they manage to keep using Stripe despite that? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks a lot in advance!
