I'm living in Argentina for a couple years now and it's not cheap anymore. I have my money in EU and US and if u make a decent EU/US salary it's still way cheaper than western countries. U can live a comfortable live at the moment if u live with 2 persons making 2500 a month in total. Then you are not talking about very expensive additional expenses but mostly basic stuff
The rent / gas / light is still way cheaper than in most western countries. Groceries not anymore and/or going out for lunch/dinner , but like the rest of the world, it all︀ depends where u go to and what u buy.
I live in the 2e largest︁ city ( Cordoba ) and the weather is very good over here. Summers can get︂ to hot. I never felt unsafe here but i also dont go into the suburbs︃ when it gets dark and i dont own/wear expensive jewelry so that also helps. Also︄ watch out walking with your phone in your hand everywhere taking pictures and video etc...it︅ is possible that they will ride alongside on a moped/scooter and steal it from your︆ hands. Be aware of your surroundings as you should be in most major cities around︇ the world. There is a lot of police on the streets here and special security︈ enforcers, so again it does not feel unsafe for me. Might be different in Buenos︉ Aires, its way bigger with 14 million people living in the metropolis compared to 1,3︊ million over here. Most crime in Buenos Aires is also in the suburbs and u︋ want to stay away from those. In the more smaller cities/towns it is safe and︌ i hardly see/hear anything on the tv or on internet about crime there.
I come︍ from a Western European country and the biggest problems I have are with the general︎ mentality here. It's also an interim position for me and next year I hope to️ move to Dubai
You feel like you're living in the 90s here. Everything is often old and dilapidated. The bureaucracy can be irritating; everything is transferred across five offices, and the systems are completely outdated.
In my opinion It's better to live here if you're retired and can/will live a slow down life.
The people are very nice and social.
