Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir has unveiled plans for a dedicated prison wing and hanging facility for prisoners sentenced to death under Israel’s capital-punishment framework for terrorism offenses, presenting the preparations as the next stage in implementing one of his central political pledges.
The facility in central Israel is planned to include a dedicated wing for death-row prisoners, an execution area for carrying out hangings, viewing rooms for victims and their families, and provisions allowing bereaved families to visit the wing and monitor proceedings.
Ben Gvir portrayed the project as part of his broader effort to impose harsher conditions on security prisoners and introduce the death penalty for convicted terrorists.
