Sounds about right then to pay 900K for a villa in this place...let alone 1-2MM as some ads run...I believe there must be areas worth staying, but unfortunately overall this is a risky (very) country.

Sometime Saving tax cost you a life . We take granted things which are easily available like safety, water, police etc. in home country .
By just reading online material , We become super confident . When reality strike , We regret it.

Better to experience your self some month before moving there.
With crypto is super dangerous. If someone know that You have high value crypto , People will kidnap you surely . And steal all of your crypto holding.
Just saving tax, you are taking risk of losing all your money.
Some Developed counties dude thought police will help. When something happen they may shocked to discover that Police also involve in that crime.
Nobody going to help you in banana Republic.

Your 100% correct they will be kidnapped. Immigration in El Salvador will probably work with criminal gangs to facilitate this. El Salvador is one of the most corrupt countries on planet earth.
