Will duplicate content lower our search engine rank?

What will happen if someone copy your article then publish it in your own blog? Even if he write the url of the original article, will it affect your search engine rank? Because i heard that duplicate content can lower our search engine rank. Please share...

I dont thnk it do affects your rank since you will be viewed more than the person wjo posts the content from you. So you have a more visited link and your search result pops first. The one who uses your content only will be moved down in the rank!
