What now? What alternatives do we have....up-to-date ones, of course....? 🙄

Signal is also highly underrated for weak reasons (usually the phone number which is a really trivial reason)

either way the UI and UX is ridiculous no matter what you choose sadly

OK...pardon my ignorance, but what is the point of Molly if it takes over one's Signal? Like I can't have Signal and Molly at the same time. It's either one or the other. What's the benefit of Molly then?
As they mentioned here : Molly is an independent Signal fork for Android with improved features.
It's an improved fork only.
We discussed here Comparison of secure instant messengers
My choice if Session dies is ElementX
This is an updated review.

I use Molly for Signal because it offers a Tor‑SOCKS option, Threema since to date it keeps no logs at all, SimpleX because it is open‑source and supports .onion addresses, and Dino with OMEMO for XMPP since it is decentralized.

Never forget to disable Google or Apple push notifications if you run these apps on your phone. Those messages are analyzed. In such a scenario end‑to‑end encryption offers no protection.

WTF??!! I was NOT aware of this! Disabling them right now! Why don't apps mention this? 🙄

BTW, Thank you for sharing this!

Are we sure about this? As far as I know the only thing that goes to Google is a notification that there is something. And then, it is the app that gets the actual content. If however, you ask Google assistant to read those, it is another story.

On some devices, you can block network access for let's say WhatsApp. When you get a new message, Android will show a notification from WhatsApp "You may have new messages" and only once WhatsApp is able to access their servers, it will show the content.
