Here is a little contribution that I recently composed for a new client...
Grandpa: The kind of questions you ask, and the information I used to sell (for $30,000+) as your lifetime consultant is this:
1) Being a PT is not for a "Johnny Lunch-bucket," a person who has a 9 to 5 job, without serious assets, cash savings or without any portable trade or occupation. In my old books, PT. Perpetual Traveller, PTO, "Portable Trades & Occupations" I gave many examples of things I have done to generate income abroad without any job, office or government license. You can read the books. Don't like reading? I propose, for a one time, one visit fee of $5,000 I could explain your options & help set you up for a self-supporting life as a PT. This one time fee would include referrals to the personal contacts you may need until you could go it alone. And of course, you would get ALL my books to review and guide you. If you can afford it, we can talk about a long-term “lifetime” unlimited consulting arrangement.
2) You correctly identified another problem of being rootless – that is, having no permanent residence for purposes of banking, travel, etc. Even as a PT who never stayed registered in a country long enough to be a “tax resident,” you needed physical address(es). One answer today is that some EU countries will give (or sell) you a residence card, & tax ID number without any tax obligations –if you play your cards right. Maybe an additional passport too. Some countries like Turkey can provide these items without ever going there. You get the details from me but not free. You can rent a small studio (a mere PO Box or mail drop doesn't work any more!) for an EU physical address – if needed. Any snail mail can be picked up and forwarded to you.
With a VPN you can get email, phone calls, and other communications that place you (make you seem) in the sa
me locale as your “legal address.”
If you are rich enough to afford it, Monaco, Cyprus & Bermuda are three worth-while tax haven locations. I have others! If you want to do it on the cheap, maybe you need services like I can still provide This will help you identify many other options you can use for financial, residence & travel documents.
3) Banking these days & getting cash spending money is an easily solved problem. For small amounts you can use many online banks that don't ask too many "KYC (Know Your Customer)" questions you can't comfortably answer. They will issue a debit card. Another solution (still anonymous) is using Crypto assets and a linked debit card. This allows you to charge all expenses – even a cup of coffee, against your Bitcoin or other Crypto holdings.
4) The starter info needed to become and maintain a P.T. lifestyle can be obtained from my book called, (Guess what?) --->"PT." But the details will be learned by simply taking the first steps & doing it. You can definitely “do it yourself.” But to avoid costly mistakes you might want to hire a consultant as your mentor. My son will take over when I am out of the picture went to law school & got an MBA. He has learned most of my tricks of the trade... He took over my consulting business. So if you have U$A 30,000 to spend, he can guide you. He won't stand in line (for instance) at consulates for you, but he will keep you on track (with my supervision in the background – as long as I am still around) show you where to go, how to act, and how to get the papers you will need. Then you will be a successful PT. You will leave behind all your problems, and have a new life--perhaps with new friends, a new identity, new citizenship, and new everything. First thing is to set forth all your goals: Financial, Geographical, Health-wise, Family Goals & Education, etc. Then get in touch with me.
Good Luck! "
