War in Iran - update re: Dubai

Hello everyone

so seeing media reports about possible lack of food in Dubai (and likely by extension in UAE) I decided to check in with my friend who lives in Dubai for over 15 years now.

Outcome:
- no food issues, in addition to local agrobusiness they are getting regular supplies via ship, last one being from India with 84,000 tonnes of food
- while her orders from Amazon did not arrive at all, TEMU orders showed up on time. You can draw your conclusion re: Strait of Hormuz.
- life more or less normal at least under the circumstances
- Emirates grounded all the flights until the 15th with the exception of repatriation flights that go both ways - tourists out and Dubai residents in
- Note - am writing this from CDG (Paris) and there is one Emirates jet on the runway, but no flight announcement on the board so likely a repatriation flight.

It has nothing to do with how it played out, search my old posts, I always discouraged everyone from an idea to live in a Muslim country, in the middle of the desert right behind the corner from Israel, Iran, Lebanon, Syria and other beautiful countries with even better governments. The people are nearly universally assholes and worse scammers than Gypsies. The water smells like urine. You can smell the stench of cigarette smoke rising from the street on the roof eighteen floors up. Crawling with disgusting sexpats getting fake hair, fake teeth, fake noses, etc. Hyper-inflationary shit economy created by an economic illiterate dictator. Twenty mosques at maximum volume in a three block radius at 4 am. The airport is trash. I could go on. They really don’t take care of the cats. Just packs of scrawny “string cats” running around like everywhere in the Middle East. They put in a few automatic feeders for show but the gulls have learned how to open them so they are just seagull feeders now.
