I would like to know if there are any license required to carry out doing Computer Services business in UAE / Dubai by FZE company? (This is not an Offshore company)
I'm not even sure if every freezone company is allowed to do business with every entity/business/individual inside of the country. It is possible there is some restriction - e.g. you can only do business abroad or with other companies in the same freezone or with freezone companies only.
VAT is probably the last problem here. You︀ don't need to add a special "licence", creating the company itself creates the licence. However︁ you must find out details in the terms of the freezone.
When does the VAT liability kick in if you have a company in UAE (Dubai preferably)? Lets say I set up a company in Dubai and have licenses for selling e-services/online stuff/doing ecommerce or something like that. Is it possible to do this 0% tax free or do I need to pay something?
Is a Freelance-visa possible to do the same thing but cheaper?
I.e. I have no problems doing stuff in the︀ grey area so to speak.
VAT @ 5% is applicable on all sales made within and or to a UAE resident individual or company.
Everyone in the︀ UAE is now used to paying it so its just your invoice plus 5%
Bank accounts will not be a problem so long as you have the all the documents but it may take longer.
Or once you have your residence permit you can open a personal account which with a freelance visa you can be paid by your clients.
Thanks for your reply. Lets say I set up a hosting/internet-related company in UAE with customers outside UAE. They (aka myself x 10000 fake accounts) will all pay their invoices with crypto. Would this be a good method of cashing out cryptocurrency without paying a dime in tax? How can I bypass VAT? Would love to hear your input.︀
I will be honest and say I am not really 100% clear on how VAT︁ is handled and what it is lol.
There is only VAT if you do business with customers from the UAE. Which you wouldn’t be allowed to anyway if you have a FZE, I think. So you don’t have to worry about VAT.
But if you live in a high-tax country, then it will not be legally possible to cash out this way without employees, an office etc. in the UAE.
Oh OK so its possible to fully bypass it then? Sorry if not understanding fully...
Oh no. I plan to get my tax residency set up in UAE. So in that perspective its all legal.
By the way... Regarding licenses. How picky are they when it comes to this? I mean there is a license for online marketing for example. Will they/government departments go mad if I also "sell websites online"?
Would be nice to have a license that simply covers everything internet related ;p. Like ecommerce, marketing, marketing, server renting etc.
If your clients are outside the UAE there is no tax applicable.
If your a consultant then you are︀ covered in all fields. Just so long as it's not P**N, gambling or any illegal︁ under Sharia or Common Law, then you will be ok.
You will find in Dubai︂ a lot of people buying Crypto it. Would be an idea to maybe sell some︃ to them as well. That way your funds have come from the UAE which the︄ banks like.
