They don’t have a clue. They just take money from us suckers in a wide range of ways, and they provide liquidity to the market so we can have a functioning playground.
Sometimes they have it wrong but all can be fixed with some creative accounting and other tricks.

If someone could consistently beat the market averages and could reduce it to a formula then that formula would be guarded as the highest secret and used to make money trading. They wouldn’t be selling how-to books. That said, there is value in studying the ideas of others.
