Hello!

I'm currently in Cyprus for a few weeks and looking to leave the UK and move my tax residence to Cyprus. I work as a consultant from my UK Ltd, which I plan to stop doing and start doing through a Cyprus Ltd I'll open.

I was wondering with what timeframes should I

- open a limited company
- start a rental agreement for a property
- show revenue for the company
- anything else (e.g. reaching 60 days on Cypriot soil in the current calendar year or in the last 12 months or whatever is the rule)

if I plan to leave the UK in June 2025 and move to Cyprus just after.

Many thanks!

You can actually do this here:

The most important part is properly cutting your ties with the UK, not just what you do in Cyprus.

To give a drastic example: If you keep your apartment in the UK and you live there 305 days per year and you only spend 60 days per year in Cyprus, then those 60 days won't mean anything.
Cyprus will issue a tax residency certificate if you spend 60 days there and you aren't tax resident anywhere else. But usually the certificate wouldn't even be needed.
You should talk to a UK advisor/tax lawyer to figure out what you have to do, so that the UK will recognize that you have moved to Cyprus and that they will no longer bother you.

100% this. Forget those damn certificates. Just leave and never go back! That's what matters the most.
