Probably just a couple of countries are worse than Spain in terms of taxes. El Salvador is not one of those.

There are tax structuring options in the EU with which one pays a maximum of‌ 25% tax in connection with Spain.

Thanks to double taxation agreements, the tax burden reduction‍ down to 1% should also work with other countries.

I can't compare as I didn't live in any of them but from stories I heard‌ and friends of mine that I know that are involved in lawsuits with the tax‍ office in Spain (regular people, not even businessowners) I can say I would never live⁠ in Spain as a tax resident

If one has to make a generic assumption, this is a safe one - albeit there are Western European countries that are somewhat better than Spain (which doesn't make them any good in absolute terms).

They might be lax, but you get legal unsecurity as the other⁠ side of the coin. No free lunches
