You can get a Thai Pink Card with a DTV visa.

You can also get a DL for 200 baht (6$).

The pink card can be used to open bank accounts as it's basically a residency certificate.

You got scammed, price for new license is 205 baht for car and 105 for moto.

More information here, you don't need work permit just house registration and 50 baht.

I believe you can get the "house registration" if you just sign a lease. I believe it's called TM-30, and you can just get it for 300 THB without actually signing a lease.

I've found the info: the new driving license costs 205 THB for car and 105 for motorbike, source: https://www.dlt.go.th/en/new-license
I was charged 505 because I was renewing a 5 year license, source: https://www.dlt.go.th/en/two-year-license
please note that as I've mentioned previously a new driving license might not be accepted by some services, as I was told by my friends who relocated to Thailand when the RU-UA war started.
I've never experienced any problems providing my 5 year license as an ID card.

TM-30 is not accepted as a house registration or as a proof of residence or as anything else, it is absolutely useless, at least it was for me. it is just a bureaucratic burden for the Thai house owners who are obliged by the law to report foreigners staying in their houses/hotels.
but still it could work for you eventually as everything changes daily in Thailand.

Did you even read my links? You don't need to buy anything. You just need to ask the owner to include you in the book as you live there.

Most won't do it but if you pay them for the time it takes them to do it, they probably will.

I can drop you a contact of the company that will get you a license for 10k THB without passing any tests, it takes 1h to get it.

Did you actually did it? Because it's a scam and the license they give you is a fake one.

You need to got in person to DLT and do the tests as they take your fingerprints.

I did it myself - I have received a real license! I had to go to the DLT in person.

I completed an eye test, a reaction test, and watched a 1-hour video about Thai driving rules.

Did you have a driving license already in your home country? If so you can do the same for 6$, no need for testing.

Yes, I do have, but you can do the same if you don't even have a license, you will still get it without a test.

I don't think it's possible even if they claim to be able to do it.

Anyways the person supervising the exam will tell you the answers to all questions if you ask him. In the driving test, they let you do it unlimited times until you get it right.

it is possible as I personally know people who've bought the license that way, however I do not think it is worth it because the exam has like 100 questions which you could remember after scrolling the app (I forgot the exact name but there is an app like "Thai driving exam" with all exam questions inside) for a few hours, and yes you have unlimited tries to drive a straight line and to park lol.
