Quick data erase tool

It seems to be the right solution, but also a bit like @gh0p already wrote, throw your devices into a microwave and it's definitively game over. However, your idea is a bit smarter when you don't have a microwave nearby or need to quickly destroy a data medium completely.

The shell of a hdd is a faraday cage, so microwaves would not penetrate it.

This is correct. A bit of background for whoever interested Does microwaving a hard drive erase it?

I've also had a USB stick where I tested the Eraser Tool, and it worked as suggested here; nothing can be read on this stick anymore, it can be formatted anew, and that's fine. However, now I'm curious to find out if the data can still be recovered. I'm not particularly technical, so I'm having a hard time finding anything useful - does anyone have a direct link or suggestion for something?

I tried with Donation

However, it can't recover from Eraser Tool - looks like it is pretty good to erase data.

You can try with Encase suite. It is worth noting there can be tools available only to LE (e.g high priority case) and not only that, forensic specialists do not only click click next I agree wizard but can actually take a look at the data manually through different methods. But nothing beats software + hardware destruction. If you have soldering tools and possibly the schematics of the device you can take out the main data components pretty easily. As Johnny correctly pointed out unless you deconstruct it previously you can run into side-effects of the engineering of the product.

You can use the diskpart utility on Windows to make it useable again (many tutorials online). Regardless it can still be possible to be recovered just because it is not detected upon plug-in for example that is not an indicator of anything.

I spent many months trying to find someone who could recover the data I deleted using the tool mentioned in the OP, it hasn't worked so far. So, for the data I want deleted and the level of security I need, it's more than sufficient.
