Hi all,

I'm not an EU citizen/resident. Need a personal bank account that'll give me a debit card and a mainland EU IBAN. Currently have UK bank accounts, but they're denominated in GBP so receiving payments require currency conversion.

I'm willing to travel if required, what would be your recommendation for an EU bank account, preferably one that can be opened online and doesn't have ridiculous fees.

How about Wise, Monese, etc.?

Otherwise, where are you resident and what is your nationality?‌ There are plenty of options depending what you qualify for. HSBC Premier Malta would also‍ be an option.

The fact that HSBC Malta is currently for sale should be taken into consideration. APS Bank Malta and OTP Bank - Hungary,⁤ linked to Orban - are competing for the buyers.

Dukascopy (although it⁣ has a name that sounds like a medical procedure) has a Swiss banking license, can⁢ be opened online, has multicurrency accounts with IBAN numbers and a physicial and virtual debit︀ card. I opened it with a non-EU address.

Do you have‍ experience with both Duka and Swissquote, daniels? I'd be interested to know your impressions.

Yes, tested them. They work pretty well. In most cases, Yuh would do the job,‌ it is a joint venture between Swissquote and PostFinance. Most people here are quite happy‍ with Yuh.

Swissquote is also very good, they offer a pretty complete solution.

Which country are you‍ resident in and which citizenship you hold? Note that citizenship and residency are important in banking.

You can look at KT Bank in Germany perhaps.

Duka does not like, allow third party transfers , what about the⁤ other’s you mentioned ?

But you need to reside there:‌

Countries of residence accepted by Yuh Bank:
Austria.
France.
Germany.
Italy.
Liechtenstein.
Switzerland.

Sure, then agreeing to use this workaround there's a‌ long list of EU banks meeting the OP criteria.

I have read many bad things about Duka on this forum. Check if HSBC Expat‌ in Jersey will accept you? They give you IBANs for various currencies and the min‍ deposit isn't that high. It was 50k GBP equivelent but I think they raised it to 75k now?

All of you disregarded asking which activity is being done in the UK banks "receiving‌ payments require currency conversion" which the OP wants to do through this new setup.....

Yes you are correct. It's difficult to get a good‍ personal bank account these days

HSBC is one of the hardest‍ banks to onboard in Malta. They may open remotely but if you have a Maltese Residence Permit. Otherwise it is difficult.

I myself opened a Medirect Bank account very easily⁤ - via App, no local address, just EU ID and a bank statement from another⁣ bank.
