Trump talked about 3.5% tax for all transactions from US to outside. Then revenge tax for dividends. Then nothing happened.

One can keep his money in the US as a non resident foreigner without SSN or ITIN for decades. He can use US debit and sometimes credit cards. He doesn't have to move money between countries.

This seems to be the case so far.

Do you think it would change in the future?

If yes, based on citizenship? Or residency?

This would effect which countries or political blocs in your opinion?

Anything and everything can happen in future when it comes to US right now.

My crystal ball is‍ too dusty

Could affect any country and any block.

Trump says a lot of things. Trump actually does very few of those things. You’ll‌ see anything real coming in plenty of time to react.

American citizens of Japanese origins were put in camps and their wealth were stolen in WW2. I wonder if they saw it coming? Any ideas?

Let's say there's new political⁤ blocs like
EU-US-Israel vs RU-TR-Iran-China

Trump isn’t FDR, in a number of ways. My Italian grandmother hurried to swear in as a US citizen in⁤ December of 1941 to avoid that possibility and I much later applied for Italian citizenship⁣ by descent so I’d have options should things change. The only thing permanent is change,⁢ especially in law and policy. You should have a number of contingency plans and watch︀ events carefully. Governments usually move slowly enough that you can see things unfold.

Might he?︁ Maybe. Is it happening tomorrow or even next month? No. For now, it’s only talk.︂

Even had the remittance taxes passed as originally written into the bill, there were many‌ legal ways around it for men of intelligence. The intent was to harass Jose the‍ day laborer.

Bottom line is it is business as usual? As in globalization is here to stay,‌ US will continue to mess with all other countries to maintain US dominance. As a‍ result, US stock market is going to perform like it has been performing in last 150 years (in the long term).

Thoughts?

To an‌ extent yes.

WARNING: May cause anti China folk to become triggered.⁣ Please read with caution.

Long term it is over for the US in terms of⁢ global dominance economically. But this does not necessarily mean the US stock market will fall.︀ But reality will hit many investors and US tech might take a lower weighting in︁ peoples portfolios.

The question is whether US can force other countries to abandon China and︂ do so quickly. As in the long term China is going to become the biggest︃ consumer market in the world and one would need access to the market ask Scott︄ Bessent 😉. It is already the biggest auto market in the world for car sales︅ and car production. It consumes over 30 million vehicles annually while US is only half︆ of that now....lol.

Right now US is weaponized its consumer market against the rest of︇ the world with tariffs. In the global south we have long memories and this wont︈ be forgotten as many are countries are forced to bend the knee right now to︉ Trump. The big moment will come when US big chip companies are undercut by China.︊ Ask Nvidia CEO he knows...lol.

Funny thing is all the US major chip companies have︋ Asian CEO's and key staff....lol - Nvidia, AMD, Intel etc. Nvidia's CEO is Chinese...sorry I︌ mean Taiwanese. Bottom line is think what the market value of these companies will be︍ long term when China has caught up in next few years. Who are they selling︎ expensive AI chips too when China will flood market with cheap affordable equivalent chips like️ they have done in car market. Will there be any demand for US designed expensive‌ chips? I expect to see a chip technology deepseek moment or banning of Chinese chips‍ to try and stop them.....lol.
