How to find online information about a Company?

I'm interested if someone can help me out how to find in what business category a company operates.

If I do a google search with the company's name I can only find details about company address and names of the directors and other things but how I can find information in what business category and sub-category a company operates?

As mentioned here already it depends on where the company is registered. Most countries have‌ their own registry databases where you either can pay to get access to or it's‍ free available on the Internet!
