You can (could) open a Solo Bank account online - it used to work for European Residents even with Asian or South American passports. No intermediate... As I said before, last time I checked it was working fine (beginning of 2024).

Isn't the power of attorney normally with attorneys rather than banks? I am pretty sure you'll find one that allows you to allow him to just open the account.

Also I am pretty sure that if you open it online directly with the bank, there is no such need.

Still, why not just go there?

It's not the bank it's those remote accounts setup provider.

Unfortunately they don't allow online.

Do you have an account there?

It was ABB, ArmBusinessBank before rebranding. ABB was not exactly a reputable bank back then among Armenians.

Also it seems you need to be Armenian to open an account. Are you from Armenia?

I am thinking of Mauritius as they are the only one that makes any sense to me now.

It seems they ask for Armenian social security number to open an account.

Yes. If you have that number, you can open bank accounts with most Armenian banks remotely.

Also note that most banks charge up to 200 USD for opening an account for foreigners since early 2022.

But why are we discussing Armenian banks here?

no they don't ask for that. I was WhatsApping with an international RM and he never asked (me) for that...
