What are the requirements to become a nominee Director/Shareholder (provided you offer the service through Reg Agent)? As I understand you must be a citizen of the jurisdiction of the company? Criminal record check? What else?

What about onshore nominees, is it even "a thing"? I know offshore nominees sign the agreement, would it be legally bound if same were done in an onshore company?

They are called local nominees as far as I have been informed and they need to be local citizens hired by the Agent who incorporate companies for foreigners in the offshore jurisdiction. I don't believe there are any special requirements to become a nominee, however, it's the agents reputation that get damaged if something goes wrong.

I hope there will be some background check on a nominee before he get hired and appointed to several of the offshore companies.

We have seen nominees provided by agent's where no checks were made at all while others are doing a professional background check on the nominees they appoint.
