MILFs are not for everyone.
On another note, it seems that French castles today are for about everyone. Prices are ridiculous. There must be a good reason.

These are derelict buildings in bad locations.

Exactly. Well he was dating a single mother before I had to put some sense into him by taking him to a trip to Mykonos alone That only helped for a few months and was back to taking blue pill - figuratively and I guess literally with a Swedish single mom.

Yep but how much to revamp and maintain it over the years? That alone could X fold the price.JohnnyDoe said:
In France, for example, for an asking price of 1.6m you get this 3000sqm castle with 26ha of land:

Not much. Probably 200k to make it perfect, 50k to make it good.
These buildings are solid, when you buy high quality you don't really need to spend a fortune in maintenance.
How do you stay out of French tax net by having a permanent house available to you there?JohnnyDoe said:

And remember, living in peaceful 26ha in the countryside will save you big hospital bills later.

Need to account land tax that could be substantial for that big size land depending on location and if construction is allowed.JohnnyDoe said:

If low land tax then you are in a middle of nowhere and you may die before reaching the next decent hospital.
Out of that, yes peace, calm and space are definitely priceless.

This is a right thing. You don't want to see a beautiful castle transformed into a minimalist monstrosity.void said:

not sure if this is the case in France but many countries "protect" valuable historical buildings by law.... which means you're not only limited in what you can do with your property but also obliged to keep it in certain condition

That's why governments should refrain from requiring audited statements as they are more often than not much worse.
Most government decisions are stupid and irrational, can't expect them to do anything sensible.daniels27 said:

Are all the wealthy people leaving France, just like they are leaving England and Norway? Or is it something else you're referring to when you say these castles are being sold cheaply?

Castles are pretty much anywhere sold cheaply. Maintenance is just too costly.redeye said:

hi everyone!
I have a problem that I had to anticipate but unfortunately things decided otherwise!
I'm currently running a micro enterprise in France, and I have a 50% rebate on my charges which ends this month.
Without this abbatement, my margin won't be high enough to continue growing at the speed I'm aiming for!
I had consulted a chartered accountant in the middle of the year, who confirmed that I could open a limited company in one country (e.g. Gibraltar) and pay myself a salary in France.
I would then pay corporate tax in Gibraltar and income tax in France.
So my questions are, can I actually do this? Who can I turn to (because there are 1,000 different websites on the Internet promising an easy, quick,... )? And if all this is possible, how much could it cost me?
My business is mainly Rencontre affiliation and I'm just starting to promote moderates (OF). ( Last year's income ≃ 50k € and that was simply profit, I had no expenses., it's the first year and the beginning of the year was very good so for a bracket say I'd do between 30k and 70k annual.Next year I will have expenses ( between 1/2k monthly )

Sounds like it could be a new niche. Transforming French châteaux into eco friendly, CO2-neutral homes by insulating them and equipping them with solar panels or other renewable energy sources, so the costs of running a château are on par with an average household.daniels27 said:
