GHK-Cu peptide

GHK-Cu is popular among Instagram dermatologists and teenage "biohackers".
It is a naturally occurring copper peptide. It does a few modest things: it can influence collagen synthesis, modulate inflammation, and help with wound healing. That’s it. Those effects are local, weak, and context-dependent. No systemic effects, nothing transformative.

The myth comes from three tricks.

First, petri dish science. You take fibroblasts, drown them in GHK-Cu at concentrations that never occur in human tissue, and observe upregulated genes. Then someone writes ā€œregenerates tissueā€ in bold letters and the internet does the rest.

Second, rodent studies. Mice heal faster. Mice also live two years and regenerate skin differently. Translating that to a human hoping to reverse aging is delusional.

Third, cosmetic confusion. Topical GHK-Cu can slightly improve skin appearance by improving wound remodeling and hydration. Moisturizers also make skin look better. Nobody pretends they rebuild you from the inside.

If your goal is real, measurable changes in body composition, recovery, connective tissue resilience, sleep quality, and skin/hair quality as a downstream effect, growth hormone works. Not as magic, not overnight, and not without cost, but it works because it acts systemically through IGF-1, lipolysis, protein turnover, and tissue remodeling. All documented effects in humans, at physiological and supraphysiological doses, across decades of data.

GHK-Cu does not stimulate GH. It does not meaningfully raise IGF-1. It does not alter nitrogen balance. It does not change fat mass. It does not preserve lean tissue in caloric restriction. It does not improve recovery in trained adults in any reproducible way. It basically does nothing apart from minor, local, temporary cosmetic effects.
