EU Banks Open to Non-Residents

Experience my friend.

It's usually better to get the non-resident EU bank account via economic justification, instead of letting‌ 250-500K rot on a zero/sub-zero yield account. The only downside is the paperwork and tax‍ reporting related to rental income.

Speaking of 250K deposit, Citibank in London is open too - Access to SWIFT, local‌ UK payments as well as SEPA network via one account.

That's better than let's say‍ a Lux account which only gets you SEPA and SWIFT.

Incorporating a company there would solve that right?

Any privacy benefits you can think of‍ to place your asset in Luxembourg? They have CRS in place there?

Maybe, you‌ can apply online below for a business relationship I think and see how it goes.‍ I guess when it asks about connection to Lux you would select "Authorized representative of a legal entity" in that case conf/(%.

Used to be as private as Switzerland if not more so. However CRS⁣ is in place. Only benefit of Lux is stability, banking expertise for investment clients and⁢ a top place to keep funds, gold etc and sleep well at night.

When CRS is in place‌ you can't sleep well anyway. However from other sides the bank seems very reliable.

There is one more important question to the thread, are the above mentioned banks dealing with‍ usd accounts for non-residents?

BIL Luxembourg has a pretty straightforward online application. Has anyone tried to remotely open a‌ bank account there?

As far as I know, BIL provides Private Banking for Non-Residents. It will be hard‌ to open a current account, if you do not live in EU.

As a non-resident, but EU citizen I have been able to open real bank accounts‌ in person:

- Asset international Bulgaria
- Raiffeisen Poland
- HSBC UK

All these three‍ during 2019, without minimum deposit.

Will try new countries in 2020.

EU citizens can bank relatively easily with banks in another EU countries.

1) You need‌ to be born in the EU; (otherwise it might be more difficult)
2) You need‍ to consider the languages offered by the bank; (local and sometimes English)
3) You need to know if they specialize in a certain 'non-resident' area; (cross border traffic, expats)
4) You need to have a good cover story; (I want a euro/zloty account, as I⁤ intent to {move, buy} X)

Online banks are easy; bunq, n26.
Retail banks that do online⁣ opening: DKB.de, ComDirect.de, HSBC.fr.
A lot of banks will open in person, make sure you⁢ adapt #4 to fit the bank.
It is not forbidden to open a account elsewhere︀ in the EU, tax information will be exchanged!
Banks use verification methods that defeat 'the︁ darks', so only open with real ID's.
