EIN taking forever

Hello Everybody,


About a month ago, I created an LLC in the USA through an online service.

I also paid extra so they can handle the EIN creation for me.

Now, I have to file for the BOIR report, which requires an EIN.

I'm wondering if there is a quick way to check directly from the IRS if they already have my EIN ready?


Any help on this regard would be very much appreciated.

No, they will send a fax when it's ready.
Some say that if you call the IRS and you are lucky they will process your EIN application instantly.

Just for your information, i live abroad, I'm a non-usa resident.

Usually how much time does it takes in my case?

I guess i don't have much⁠ choice now but to wait, right?

Note that⁤ any US service can't do this in such a way for you. Nevertheless they should⁣ have been able to manage it on-line, also instantly 🙁. See the link above (“Apply⁢ online”).

It can take months, depending on the backlog.

Thanks everyone. In my case, since the EIN request has already been filed by third‌ party service, is it too late to act or speed up the process?

I am grateful for the help so far. I think‍ i didn't make my question clear enough.

If i call the IRS and apply by⁠ the phone for my EIN, would that cause a duplicate request for my tax ID,⁤ or will they disregard the other EIN creation process made by the third party service?⁣

I don't want to end up with two tax ids for my company

Just call them via VoIP on your notebook/PC and continue working while you're in‍ the line. There's no need to just sit around doing nothing.

1 month is nothing, I used Incfile (now bizee), I also paid 70 USD to‌ have the "FAST EIN" I applied in April 2023 and Received my EIN in February‍ 2024... crazy, I know, despite all the calls, emails and insults I didn't manage to⁠ get it faster.... I formed a single member LLC in Wyoming

Could it perhaps be related to how busy they are in public services?
