#BREAKING | 🇩🇪 — Germany: Saxony-Anhalt state election underway with higher midday turnout

Polling stations opened at 8 a.m. local time across the eastern German state. About 1.7 million eligible voters are electing a new Landtag. Stations close at 6 p.m. First projections are expected shortly afterward.

By noon, turnout stood at 34.7 percent — well above the 22.4 percent recorded at the same point in 2021. Final turnout in 2021 was 60.3 percent including postal votes.

The election is being closely watched. Pre-election polls placed the AfD at around 40–41 percent, ahead of the CDU at 23 percent. A provisional result is expected early Monday.

🇩🇪 📊 After counting the votes in more than half (1458 out of 2660) of the electoral districts, the "Alternative for Germany" party is leading with 48% of the votes, which would allow this party to form a government in the state of Saxony-Anhalt on its own.

If the final result is below 46%, and at the same time, the "Sahra Wagenknecht" bloc surpasses the 5% threshold (currently, BSW has 5.1%), then the leading opposition party in Germany would be just one seat short of being able to form a government on its own.

🗳 🇩🇪 🚷 65% of AfD voters in Saxony-Anhalt reported facing financial struggles.

Turns out that when you correctly link mass immigration to the decline in job security, homeownership, accessible healthcare, quality education, decent wages, and almost every other quality of life indicator for existing residents, they respond accordingly at the ballot box.

📝 🇩🇪 📈 Seems the young on the right are rejecting a party that calls itself conservative but conserves nothing.

Tonight young Germans voted more than 8 to 1 for the AfD.

🇺🇸 📝 Gabe Guidarini: These Gen Z margins are achievable for the GOP in America if we choose to emulate AfD rather than trying to be the CDU.

🇬🇧 📝 ZoomerHistorian: The AfD has a huge nationalist faction, and they’re most successful where that faction in prominent, in the east

Reform just outright purges all nationalists from the party, it is quite literally not even an option for nationalists to support them

The difference between the two parties is night and day.
