Colombia Recognizes Israel's Sovereignty over the Golan Heights

In light of the persistent regional instability in the Middle East and considering the strategic importance of the Golan Heights to Israel's security, the Government of Colombia recognizes Israeli sovereignty over this territory, as well as that State's right to protect itself against external threats.

For decades, Israel has faced persistent and existential security challenges along its borders. These threats have intensified significantly in recent years, culminating in the horrific terrorist attacks of October 7, which highlighted the gravity and evolving nature of the dangers facing the Israeli people.

In this regional security context, Colombia recognizes that maintaining Israel's control and sovereignty over the Golan Heights is an essential component of its national defense and its ability to protect and safeguard its citizens.

With this decision, Colombia reaffirms its commitment to the pursuit of a stable and lasting peace in the Middle East.

#BREAKING | 🇱🇾 — Senior LNA intelligence chief killed in Benghazi car bombing

Major General Fawzi al-Mansouri, Director of Military Intelligence for eastern Libya’s Libyan National Army (LNA) under Khalifa Haftar, was killed on Monday evening when an explosive device detonated in his vehicle outside his home in the Hawari area of Benghazi.

Security sources confirmed the attack. The LNA General Command mourned him as a “martyr” who fought terrorism, condemned the bombing as the work of terrorists using familiar methods, and stated that the perpetrators will not escape punishment.

Mansouri was appointed to the intelligence post in May 2024 after previously commanding the Sebha military zone.
