🇦🇿🇩🇪🇷🇺 — Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, speaking after a meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Berlin, told reporters that former and current German and Russian officials held a clandestine meeting in Baku this month.

Aliyev said Baku had received no prior notification from either Germany or Russia and only became aware of the meeting after reading about it in a report by The Times. He added that Azerbaijani authorities subsequently launched an investigation into the visits.

"In other words, our territory was simply used without our knowledge," he added.
