🇮🇷❌🇦🇪🇴🇲 — United Arab Emirates Defence Ministry:
The Ministry of Defense announces that the national tankers (Mombasa) and (Bahia) were targeted by two Iranian cruise missiles in the southern passage of the Strait of Hormuz in Omani territorial waters.
The targeting resulted in the death of one crew member of the tanker (Mombasa), of Indian nationality, and the injury of 8 others, including 4 serious injuries (6 of Indian nationality, and 2 of Ukrainian nationality).
The targeting also caused material damage to the two tankers as a result of fires breaking out on board, and the fires have been brought under control on both tankers.
The Ministry of Defense condemns this brazen attack, which constitutes a serious violation and a clear breach of international law, threatening the security and stability of the region. It emphasizes that the state reserves its full right to respond to this escalation and to take all necessary measures to protect its territories, people, and residents, thereby ensuring the preservation of its sovereignty, security, and stability, and safeguarding its interests and national capabilities.
The Ministry expresses that it is on high alert and fully prepared to deal with any threats, and that it is taking all necessary measures to firmly counter anything aimed at undermining the security and stability of the state.
