#BREAKING | 🇺🇸 🇲🇽 — The U.S. military used a high-energy laser this week to down three drones it identified as Mexican cartel aircraft near the U.S.–Mexico border, officials said.

Joint Task Force–Southern Border said the Army Multipurpose High Energy Laser engaged the unmanned aircraft late Tuesday and early Wednesday in southern Texas’ Rio Grande Valley. Officials said the drones posed a physical threat to U.S. troops and Customs and Border Protection personnel and were being used to support smuggling and surveillance.

The military did not disclose the exact strike locations or whether the drones were over U.S. or Mexican territory. Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has previously said any unilateral U.S. action on Mexican soil would be a serious violation of sovereignty. U.S. officials said the operation was coordinated with partners along the border.

#BREAKING | 🇷🇺 — Russia has successfully launched an intercontinental ballistic missile from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome, the Russian Defense Ministry announced Friday.

The ministry said the purpose of the launch was to check the tactical, technical, and flight characteristics of the missile system. Training warheads reached their designated impact area. The description is consistent with a mobile RS-24 Yars ICBM.

Such tests are conducted periodically to confirm the readiness of Russia’s Strategic Missile Forces.​

➡️ According to the report, senior RSF figures, including Hemedti’s brothers Abdul Rahim and Algoney, traveled to Tel Aviv in May 2025 and again in February 2026, meeting Israeli Foreign Ministry officials and intelligence officers.

🛬 In May 2025 and February 2026, the Sudanese rebels visited Tel Aviv twice to meet officials from the African Division of Israel's Foreign Ministry, as well as Israeli intelligence officers.

📝 The delegation on the first trip included Abdul Rahim Hamdan Dagalo, the RSF's second in command and elder brother of their leader Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, also known as "Hemeti", and their younger brother Algoney Hamdan Dagalo. On the second trip, both brothers, who have been sanctioned by the United States and the United Nations, were joined by Ezzadean Elsafi, an RSF legal adviser. 

📞 The contacts highlight a distinction within Israel's engagement with Sudan. Besides the seniority of the RSF figures involved, they suggest that long-lasting ties between Israel and the Sudanese paramilitary group have survived the collapse of Sudan's political transition and more than three years of war since its start in April 2023.

➡️ The Shin Bet security agency confirms that it spirited Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s son, Yair, away to Israel after a threat to his life.

➡️ The agency’s comments came after a report said earlier this week Yair Netanyahu was the target of an Iranian assassination plot in December 2025 while he was living in Florida, and after Netanyahu told Israel’s Channel 14 in a phone interview that “Iran targeted one of my sons. Iran tried to kill, to murder one of my sons.”
“There was a significant threat to harm Yair Netanyahu, and in light of this and after an assessment, a decision was made together with the security team to urgently rescue him and return him to Israel,” the Shin Bet tells Channel 12 news, without specifying the threat.​
