CRS after changing countries

So if I leave⁤ and do not tell Portugal, I should be fine. But what happens if I do⁣ tell Portugal I'm leaving for another country? Will they forward the CRS info?

I completely agree with you here. I've lived in a small town︉ in Algarve, and nobody seemed to care about invoices, and in many places, they just︊ accepted cash. I moved to Lisbon afterward and cards were accepted in 95% of places︋ asking for an invoice with your TIN was very common and accepted.

Good point 🙂

Not really. They will report it to their National⁤ IRS. Like if IBKR is based in Germany, they will report it to German IRS⁣ from there on , GERMAN IRS will report it to the TAX Country they think⁢ it's fair to report. Like the one you choosed you have a "tax reisdence" or︀ an address

I see. Then I can tell the Portuguese authorities I left as long as I‌ don’t tell my broker (IBKR). Correct?

Yes. That should be‍ fine, at less in theory. if IBKR is registered in Portugal, and you are a Portuguese (to their knowledge) they will not even report you.
