Hello,

I'm currently tax resident in a country with a lot of taxes ( 35%)‌ and a tax residency policy where you become tax resident if you spend more than‍ 183 days / year, which i do.
I was talking with chatgpt to try to figure out if it was possible to become tax resident of another country without having⁤ to physically move.

He suggested the following:

CountryTax on Foreign Income? Can You Become⁣ a Tax Resident Remotely?Key Benefits

PanamaNo tax on foreign income

✅ Yes, with a⁢ bank deposit or investment
No physical stay required, tax-friendly

UAENo income tax at all︀

✅ Yes, via company setup (Free Zone)No tax, easy setup, business-friendly

ParaguayNo tax on︁ foreign income✅ Yes, via Permanent ResidencyLow cost, no physical stay needed

GeorgiaNo tax︂ on foreign income✅ Yes, via Individual Entrepreneur status1% tax up to $155K, no stay︃ needed

MaltaNo tax on foreign income✅ Yes, via Global Residence ProgramEU access, tax-friendly︄ structure

Sorry for the terrible table formatting, i cannot seem to be able to format︅ it correctly.
So basically my question is, is that true ?

Can i pursue any︆ of those options in those country without leaving where i am currently and switch my︇ tax residency ?

He says paraguay and panama especially have Zero tax and NO visits︈ required

Thank you for your time!

In short, yes you can also become tax resident in another country. But that does‌ not make you not tax resident where you actually live. In the worst case, you'll‍ end up paying taxes in two countries due to the lack of a treaty.

As Daniels suggested, if you stay to live in the country of your current tax‌ residency, you have to pay taxes there as well.

In the case of Paraguay, I‍ add that permanent residents must visit the country at least once every three years; otherwise, they risk losing their residency.
