Intel Management Engine - The chip has full access to the system hardware, even when‌ powered off.
Well documented and observed to be 'phoning home', it's anyone's guess what data‍ is being sent to Intel.

If you're serious about security, you wouldn't want this crap⁠ on your system. Which means back to 3rd gen CPUs, or older. And tweaking to⁤ disable the ME as per my previous posts.
 
It's alright if you get i7 vPro with 16+GB RAM - Maybe not for heavy‌ video editing or gaming but for most office work it's plenty of performance.
