Do they require verification docs to setup?

If so, what is the verification process ( example, ID and SMS? or something else? )

Have darks been successfully used for this verification ( if needed )?

NVM, I signed up under a test account and got a wallet.

However, there is no option to buy bitcoin on the exchange for me ( USA ). Will I need darks to buy on another exchange to get bitcoins?

You don't need darks to buy bitcoins, you can do it through blockchain.info with your credit Card!

If you want to stay anonymous it is different you need darks to buy bitcoins.

one of bitcoins main ideas is that you should not trust other entities, so i suggest to create a wallet not with blockchain.info, but
with a wallet you can control yourself, like electrum

Electrum Bitcoin Wallet

to buy bitcoins you can look at paxful.com or localbitcoins.com

sorry for my foolish question but why is that wallet better than blockchain.info ?

because the private keys to your bitcoin wallets are stored on blockchain.info,
so if there are under ddos, not available, or get hacked you are in the bulls**t 🙂

sure you have the advantage, that you can access your bitcoin wallet from every computer with internet,
but you can save your electrum wallet or the public / private keys password encrypted on a vps which belongs to you as example

Ohhh... great thanks for the update and information, very useful.
