This really sounds like the most retarded location I could ever think of to operate VPN service from.
The trustworthiness of such service︀ is essentially zero.
The blocking of P**N, gambling, government criticism and competitors to local mobile︁ operators is one thing.
However, there is yet another thing which you'd be missing -︂ the ability of the state to spy on you and everything you do. Don't trust︃ me?
https://citizenlab.ca/2018/09/hide-...egasus-spyware-to-operations-in-45-countries/https://www.zdnet.com/article/google-bans-darkmatter-certificates-from-chrome-and-android/Not saying you'll get infected by spearphished spyware but it is enough︄ to simply issue a local certificate for a local authority and entire HTTPS / VPN︅ is worthless in the region.
Perhaps you could have a VPN company there and do︆ absolutely everything OUTSIDE of the country.
I'm really surprised that Astrill moved to UAE but︇ I guess they will keep their physical operation in Pakistan (or where they're from) and︈ use the company as a front. Or at least I hope that is what they︉ plan.
For privacy, you are looking for country that has no laws regarding keeping logs,︊ no mandatory key disclosure/key disclosure laws, no self-incriminatory laws. You may think this is a︋ basic human right but recently e.g. Australia passed laws that forbid this.
😵
Look into Seychelles,︌ Panama, maybe Switzerland (though US can apply some pressure).
