A 34-year-old man used those stolen IDs – along with others harvested from social media – to open 46 fraudulent bank accounts at ABN AMRO, one of the largest banks in the Netherlands. He did it entirely through the bank’s mobile onboarding flow, which required applicants to upload a photo ID and take a selfie for facial verification.

I love ABN AMRO. And yes, I know it's ironic to say I do enjoy a certain bank. Maybe I'm lucky but they never asked me a single question or made me fill in a KYC form once, even when sending money to different countries. Using other Dutch banks like Rabobank I got KYC'ed frequently, up to the point I had to explain a 4 euro transaction in Greece from a supermarket. Sadly might have to give up my bank acct. with them soon. After +/- 3 years you move outside the EU they close your bank account.

Why don't you pretend to be still living there? All you need is a bit of photoshop.
If you really need and want a bank account in the EUSSR, that is.

Good idea actually. I've done that before with another bank and it worked. Still works. I was just thinking they might look at my IP address but perhaps they won't
