What jurisdiction is best suited for a no logs VPN service? Let's say privacy is the biggest concern and i registered an offshore company in Saint Vincent, would i be taxed on profits in Sweden?

If privacy matters you won't find anything beating Seychelles because they don't have any public registry! Best privacy ever!

That said, you need to figure out what payment methods you require for your business. For instant if you only need to accept BitCoins you can register your offshore company anywhere. If you need to accept PayPal, Visa, MC etc. it actually get's more complicated and almost impossible to keep your privacy towards the payment providers!

Sweden tax (like most other European countries) on worldwide income. If you don't report your earnings in Sweden it would be considered tax evasion which most often result in prison for some time! If you want to stay legit and float under the radar I would look into double tax treaties to see which countries Sweden have such treties with.

Your welcome, you may check out other threads on OCT to see if you can find a solution that fits your requirements.

UAE may be interesting, although using vpn for illegal purposes is punishable by law (where isn't?) and the local ISPs are blocking VPNs to avoid people bypassing the censorship and preventing them accessing illegal websites or solutions (P**N, non licenced voip etc.), you can in fact setup VPN business and offer it to your worldwide customers, let's say apart from UAE.

I know a very reputable VPN that has moved its registered business from Seychelles to UAE.

Do you have a name or even a link to that VPN - would be nice to learn about 🙂

This really sounds like the most retarded location I could ever think of to operate VPN service from.
The trustworthiness of such service is essentially zero.

The blocking of P**N, gambling, government criticism and competitors to local mobile operators is one thing.
However, there is yet another thing which you'd be missing - the ability of the state to spy on you and everything you do. Don't trust me?

Perhaps you could have a VPN company there and do absolutely everything OUTSIDE of the country.
I'm really surprised that Astrill moved to UAE but I guess they will keep their physical operation in Pakistan (or where they're from) and use the company as a front. Or at least I hope that is what they plan.

For privacy, you are looking for country that has no laws regarding keeping logs, no mandatory key disclosure/key disclosure laws, no self-incriminatory laws. You may think this is a basic human right but recently e.g. Australia passed laws that forbid this. 😵

Look into Seychelles, Panama, maybe Switzerland (though US can apply some pressure).

I think that's their plan. I mean there is no infrastructure in UAE which could handle any VPN demand, plus it is expensive. VPN providers add UAE servers just for the sake of having them but they limit a traffic flow just to make things working or watchable, as plenty of such users are simply connecting via UAE to access Bein Connect.

However having a VPN business registered here and doing everything else overseas (servers, clients etc) makes most sense. There is no spying involved as all the technical part is done outside of the country, so no traffic passes through it.

The blocking part is certainly annoying but having kids UAE ISP level filtering works like a solid mechanism preventing them accessing even accidentally undesired content. Grown ups will always find their ways around. In fact certain EU countries have also started blocking websites on ISP level. But that's another story.

Also I would be the least worried having UAE gov spying on me, there are worse spying countries on this planet. There is not much privacy left these days if you want to lead normal life. Certainly a VPN for $100 per year won't change anything in this regard. I have been using VPN services for more than 10 years and the main purpose is usually GEO location change to access geo located restricted services or to speed up the internet server (yes VPN can actually speed up your internet if ISP is applying heavy traffic shaping). If someone thinks he is buying a privacy for $100, he needs do go to the doctor immediately.
