Jesus christ, it's one thing after the other.

So I signed up for Wise Business Account for my Wyoming LLC. Also got an actual physical address in Cheyenne to use as my trading address. All is well.

I am a legal resident in Vietnam and bank here, and I hold another SEA passport (a very weak one). I have a personal Wise Account.

Wise approved my verifications. But I gotta pay to upgrade the account to receive IBAN etc details for various currencies.

And... my Vietnamese cards are a no-go. Apparently, Vietnam-issued cards don't allow payment into Wise (even if it's making a payment for Wise's service, not putting money in). I tried various other currencies, and so the payment has to come from a card or bank account with my name or my LLC name.

Man, I am so tired of this!

Does anyone have any idea how I can get around this?

Why can't you use your personal Wise account to top up your business Wise account?

This isn't for "topping up" or adding fund into the account.

To get account details of various currencies or accept payment on Wise Business, we have to pay a one-time fee (equivalent to USD31) to upgrade. And that fee can be paid in multiple currencies including SGD, EUR, USD, and so on. But whatever available currency I choose to pay with, they only accept either bank payment, debit or credit card. And ANY payment methods I use have to be under my name or my LLC name.

I have cards issued in Vietnam and Thailand. Won't work cos they're not allowed to use to fund/pay to Wise. And since I have no other accounts under US LLC, I can't pay to upgrade it. So far.

Hopefully Payoneer or Airwallex and such will come through.

But why can't you pay that activation fee from your personal Wise account? You say Wise will accept the transfer from an account in your name. So why not just send money from your personal Wise account to your Wise business account?

What am I missing?

Wire money from your Vietnamese or Thai bank account to your personal Wise account. Then from there to your business' Wise account?

Or is the problem that you are unable to fund both your personal and your business account?

This is the probably the answer to your question.

Because the ONLY payment methods for paying for account upgrade is debit card, credit card, or bank. Not from my personal Wise or any other Wise account, nor using a Wise card under my name.

You need: a personal bank account or debit card.
You have: a personal bank account and debit card (if you got one from Wise).

So what stops you paying for the Wise business account activation with your personal Wise card, or by logging in to your personal Wise account and initiating a bank transfer from that account? Does Wise not let you do that?

Based on previous experience, I'm almost 100% confident that it's possible, unless there is some specific limitation in your region or on your account that prevents it.

Yup, they are not allowing that.

yeah, looking into that. UAE is a no-go apparently. Wise said they won't accept it. Thai too. Singapore, debit cards will be fine but I can't open account without residency (so gotta get some sort of residency there, easiest might be student pass). Wrecking my brain now.

Look for digital EU banks, some of them will happily onboard you.

Business Bank Account for your US LLC Remotely

You can easily obtain a virtual and a physical debit card under your name from something like RedotPay.

KYC is minimal and fast (minutes). Top it up with crypto instantly. You can even add it to Apple Pay. Should work.

For what it's worth, I have been able to top up my personal Wise account with my Thai creditcard some months ago.

I did notice it did not allow topping up in Baht but did allow in Euro which triggers a cash advance fee. Also, when I tried €1000 it was rejected but passed topping up in €500 increments.

So it could be worth trying different currencies and amounts. And possibly using a creditcard instead of debit card might help.

Hmm, I will try to get a Thai CC then and check. And also try with EUR on debit card. CC is a tad hard with my current residency there.

Was it a card with a credit or debit bin?
