I really don't know what you all are talking about. 🙄
Before the BIG DADDY SANCTIONS against the Russians by our Western Overlords and SlaveMasters (who are robbing us +50% of our income under the guise of taxes), I had 43 HUGE Russian clients. "Huge" as in they owned all kinds of businesses and lived in the US, Monaco, and Switzerland. They all had to flee back to Russia when︀ "we" started robbing them of every possession they ever had under the guise of "democratically-issued︁ sanctions" 😉
Of course, now I no longer do business with Russians or Russia because God︂ forbid I snub my "Western Overlords and Slavemasters". 😛
I'm sure all of us here are︃ only here to celebrate the amazing +50% of taxes we're being robbed of. Our Western︄ countries are so great that we are here on OCT just looking to find ways︅ to pay our unproductive physically weak political parasites even MORE money in taxes because they︆ "deserve" it 😛 rof/% smi(&%

I don't know about you but the UAE isn't livable if you're coming from a first world country. You can pretend all you want but it just a rich person jail in the middle of the desert with crappy air, shitty overbuilt buildings with poor construction, at first world prices.
Only people with s**t passports, that can't get access anywhere else (Africans, Russians, Indians, pakistanis, filipinos etc...) stay in︀ dubai. Brits, europeans etc... eventually leave after a year or 2.

Emiratis live in their own areas in villas where non-citizens can't buy.
Can't argue about taste. Its indeed not for everyone. I agree the︁ quality might not always be the best, but I find some deals with decent value︂ for money. Im pretty content with staying in a smaller villa in the suburbs.
Im biased because personal connections to the country, and its been amazing for networking.
I think︃ best is not to stay more than 6 months/year in the country because its too︄ hot.
Im curious what are the best places in your opinion (for Brits, Europeans).

Just survive for 1 year and you get citizenship in Russia - no questions asked. For some - it might be a compelling offer.
Hard to imagine success in the "front" without any knowledge of Russian though.

Dubai marina etc... Buildings on top of buildings with poor construction now costing in the millions (USD) .
Last time I was there in Emirates hills I got stuck in a sand storm probably everyday. Not the ideal place for million dollar mansions.

Everyone has their own preferences. You can go holiday or short term live (under 4months) in Spain and Portugal. Salzburg in Austria or some parts of Switzerland (although expensive) is nice; Italy has great areas if you are about 10-20 minutes outside main cities to avoid immigrants and crime. Eastern europe has their gems too. Czech, Croatia, Bulgaria etc... if you want that sort of atmosphere.
