For that matter, check most‌ Western European nations before and after Muslim immigration.

I have a close friend who visited‍ Austria in her twenties. It was her lifelong dream to move there, perhaps after retirement. She went back twenty years later. Now, she wants nothing to do with Austria.

She went to entire markets where no women were allowed because of the Muslim influence. Muslim⁤ men stared at her presence at the market with a burning hatred in their eyes.⁣

And bear in mind that Austria is one of the Western countries with a relatively⁢ moderate Muslim problem, as opposed to some other European nations. But now 8% of the︀ population in Austria is Muslim -- or 700,000 people. It is now at the Islamic︁ political agitation and special rights tipping point.

Austria’s government is now facing backlash for launching︂ an “Islam Map” website that shows the locations of more than 600 mosques and Muslim︃ associations across the country. But why did it publish that map?

Economic migrant does not necessarily mean someone is in a low paid job. There are plenty of well paid professionals who move⁤ to take up well paid jobs in third countries. A lot of IT professionals, engineers,⁣ doctors, bankers etc who move to high income countries like Dubai etc to take up⁢ jobs. They are economic migrants also.

Personally I‍ would call them expats if they don't intend to settle in that country, and immigrants if they do. But I suppose technically your definition is correct, it's just my impression⁤ that the term economic migrant is more often used with the lower paid people fleeing⁣ poverty of their home countries...

That is the⁤ case in the U.S. The socialist media, which can no longer even agree on the⁣ definition of the word "woman," has moved from using the phrase "illegal aliens" to "economic⁢ migrants."

In the U.S., no one would ever call a professional worker from another country︀ who is working temporarily in the U.S. an "economic migrant." In fact, normal people would︁ never call an illegal alien an economic migrant.

Only someone who legally and permanently moves︂ to the U.S. for a better financial life should be an "economic migrant." Yet, that︃ term is rarely used. You would just call them an immigrant.

In honor of this︄ utterly useless thread, let's play the "Immigrant Song" by Led Zeppelin. That way, at least︅ something good can come of it.

Ah-ah, ah!
Ah-ah, ah!

We come from the land︆ of the ice and snow
From the midnight sun where the hot springs flow
The hammer of the gods
Will drive our ships to new lands
To fight the horde,︇ sing and cry
Valhalla, I am coming

On we sweep with threshing oar
Our only︈ goal will be the western shore

Ah-ah, ah!
Ah-ah, ah!

We come from the land︉ of the ice and snow
From the midnight sun where the hot springs flow
How soft your fields so green
Can whisper tales of gore
Of how we calmed the︊ tides of war
We are your overlords

On we sweep with threshing oar
Our only︋ goal will be the western shore

So now you'd better stop and rebuild all your︌ ruins
For peace and trust can win the day despite of all your losing

Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh
Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh
Ahh, ah
Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh
Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh
Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh,︍ ooh-ooh

Can we all agree now that expat = immigrant and that we are going to‌ sell our soul to the devil within the next 8 years? Thank you.

We already sold our souls to Amazon and eventually Elon I the Emperor of Mars will claim them.
Native martians will start discriminating towards immigrants coming from that shitty hot planet and the story will repeat.

They are not expats. They‍ are immigrants, because they wish to remain permanently. Why is this concept so difficult to understand?

But they do not wish to integrate

Because you quoted Wikipedia:
In contrast to an immigrant, expatriates maintain the cultural ties such as language of their country of origin””thereby not assimilating. Expatriates usually also do not seek to become citizens of their new country.

But Muslims wish‌ to stay permanently in their new country, which is the key part of the dictionary‍ definition.
On the other hand, whether or not not they wish to integrate into society is irrelevant to the dictionary definition of an immigrant.

The definition you gave says this:

In contrast to an immigrant, expatriates maintain the cultural ties such as language of their country of origin””thereby not assimilating.

You are contradicting the definition you gave:
In contrast to an immigrant, expatriates maintain the cultural ties such as language of their country of origin””thereby not assimilating.

You are conflating the attributes of two different terms. I do not have the time to provide you with a primer on logic, but this may help:

And if you believe⁢ that the horde of Muslims are expats, then you are a nut.

I guess they are bad immigrants in that case, yet immigrants all the same - since they are likely to remain there, so do⁤ their children.

Over here Alibaba has the full rights to my soul, key to my heart and the way things are⁤ going, they will kindly allow themselves through my back door. The one at the end⁣ of my spine.

"In contrast to an immigrant, expatriates maintain the cultural ties such as language of their country of origin, thereby not assimilating."

Is this why Europe went from Deus Vult to mosques in big city centers?︀ Those people are called immigrants but I guess we can start calling them expats since︁ they maintain their cultural ties such as a white dress, a big beard and a︂ feel good feeling about "My God is better than yours".

What about gypsies, 2,000 years︃ in Europe, still maintain their sense of self. Are they immigrants or expats?

Anyone whose intention is to reside permanently in a new country is an⁣ immigrant. Your use of a logical fallacy regarding assimilation is idiotic. Most immigrants assimilate, but⁢ some do not. It is not required by the definition of "immigrant."

Once again, educate︀ yourself regarding basic logic and reasoning:

If you cannot do that yourself, then consult a︁ dictionary.
