What's the purpose of an offshore company in 2013 if not tax evasion?

I have been away for a long time, must say it hasn't made the situation in the different offshore jurisdictions better.


Now I'm wondering what the prupose could be to setup a offshore company (in any offshore jurisdiction) while tax evasion seems to be impossible?


First thing that come to my mind is, Royality and IP protection, what do you think?


Also I wonder if privacy is at all something that possibly can be option in for?
