Lets be honest, most of this is BS, the 'disappearing of funds' and even then you can trace via beneficial benefit can only work with a 'trust' moving funds through the banking system comes with tags (swift etc) which leaves a pretty broad viewing vantage.

Only way laundering would work like depicted is via the hawala system, but even then there's so many touch points for tracing to an individual, and with the international jurisdiction, extradition, deportation etc processes, not hard to track funds down with the correct pressure plied.
