Romanian Citizenship Based on "Descendants": Easier in Smaller Cities?

Hello everyone,

I've recently heard from a friend that in some of the smaller cities in Romania, where electronic registers aren't yet standard, there might be "ways" to discover some previously unknown descendants 😉, hinting at a slightly more "flexible" citizenship process. Does anyone here have any experience or knowledge about this? Just wondering how the whole process might work in those parts.

I heard that this is feasible, but I also heard that sometimes the documents disappear during the process.
I also heard of people who discovered to have been born in Romania, and of others who found their twin brothers.

I actually have a grandfather who was born in Romania, escaped from the germans at WWII , but still no way to get my passport as a descendant.

Wish I could.
