Owning multiple Airbnb’s in different countries and taxes ?

Maybe it’s a noob question

My family owns multiple Airbnb’s across europe
One of them‌ is under my name, in the same country where I reside.

All of them do‍ only short term rentals and some of them we sporadically use as second home for⁠ a few weeks or months during the year.

I plan to move to Bali by⁤ the end of next year and setup there my residency and centre of interest there,⁣ by buying a house there, which I also plan to rent on airbnb for the⁢ summer months; when I’m going to be in Europe.

Given that my parents are getting︀ old and my cousins want to transfer the Airbnb’s on me: how should I setup︁ a structure to legally own and manage them and avoid tax troubles ?

I thought︂ about moving all of them into a holding or a trust and then have a︃ local estate agency in each respective country, to rent and manage them for me

Any thoughts ?

You pay taxes on rent in the country where the property is located. It is‌ irrelevant for tax purposes where the owner is located, whether it is a company or‍ a trust or else.

Before you think about that structure you should make sure you have a sound setup‌ to live and own property in Indonesia first. That's gonna be much harder than handling‍ European airbnbs

Bureaucracy is not easy to navigate there, same as in Thailand.

I recommend you talk‍ with a foreigner lawyer/law firm with a local presence so you also dont get lost⁠ in translation. Even if they are more expensive than their local counterparts.

No real legal ownership of properties, path to residence basically always ends up in a‍ dead end after lots of time and money wasted
