Has anyone done a Norwegian branch of a foreign company, NUF?

Also, has anyone experience or info about setting up a D-number related to this? Thats an equivalent to a social security number, anyone on a board or involved in a formal way in a company need one - know it took months to get this 8 years ago for my partners from Sweden...

Once on "the inside" of the digital gulag that Norway has become there should be tons of opportunities...

If anyone is interested in checking these things out I'm also interested in helping out if possible.

This setup might be a solution for me to keep a "footprint" in Norway, which is why I want to explore options.

I have heard the same and I know actually someone that has setup several companies in Norway from Denmark. They also allow you to setup a tax free fund as far as I know.

The best think is to consult a lawyer in Norway to help you with the legal setups, they can also act as nominees or find some that can.

I won't need this myself, BUT would be very interested in exploring it if someone else need it - simply because I want to go a bit deeper into how this particular part of the digital gulag works...

In a few years time I might have to do this for my wife, or even have nominee owners that I take through this route - there is no way I'll own anything on paper in Norway ever again!

There's no point in setting up a branch, as far as I know. It only makes sense for very rare cases like insurance companies due to some stuff with VAT (don't remember the details). From a tax perspective, it's otherwise essentially the same as a separate company.
You shouldn't have any issues getting a non-resident taxpayer numbers (ITIN, D number, whatever they are called). In some countries, banks can apply for them on your behalf, in other countries you can talk to the tax authorities directly. You typically just need a good reason for why you need one. In other words, you have to say "Look, I have to file this tax declaration, and for that I need this number."
I really can't imagine that there would be good opportunities in tax hellholes like Norway.
