Life insurance passive monthly income

I asked @Martin Everson about generating passive monthly(?) income in another thread, but was obviously advised to open a new one so as not to pollute that one, which was on another topic.

I'm very much interested in knowing how passive income via life insurance works and see if I can put it in my portfolio.
