Hey guys,

Is it still mandatory to have a locally approved health insurance (HAAD) for Abu Dhabi to keep investor visa ? at 40 years old, the price is ridiculously high knowing that I don't live there and I won't use it.
Do they accept other alternatives ?

Thanks

I think if you dont live there you can just take any approved basic insurance through this website : insurancemarket.ae

Mostly probably you can find something around 500$ a year..

Thanks for your reply. That's the issue.. once your hit 40 years old (it hurts), the basic one in Abu Dhabi is around $1700.. so I thought to ask the community about any alternatives”¦

I read that before they used to accept any international health insurance or even better writing a letter explaining that if Al you got sick, you will pay all hospital fees”¦not sure if this is still valid

I think I pay around 1.1k AED for that at insuranceuae.com (IMED is the product)

Though I could, I don't try to mix international with local insurance, just in case. I used (and still do) https://www.policybazaar.ae to check on prices and pay a bit above @JimBeam 's annually on the I-Med (from Orient) that he mentioned. There's also Takaful Emarat that offers cheap annual premiums for basic cover which, if you're healthy, is more than enough.

Thank you guys for your responses. It looks like Orient and Takaful cost 1K USD when you need it in Abu Dhabi.. weird
