Hi. I'm citizen of France, resident of Czech Republic and have a current account in Slovenia (working for the Slovenian office of a big international corporation).

I would like to open an IBKR account to invest some of my savings in ETFs and stocks.

My question is as follows : 1) will IBKR accept to open an account for me if I provide them only with my czech tax number ?

2) Is it a problem that the account which I will be funding IBKR from is not in my country of residence ?

Appreciate your help in advance. Best regards

Shouldn't be any problem if you are genuinely tax resident in Czechia.

If you moved to Czechia very recently, you might on paper be tax resident in France but IBKR will most likely not care about that. Just provide Czech TIN and Czech proof of address.

When you wire money in, it's good if the money comes from an account with the same residential address, as banks can see the sender's full name and address. If there is a mismatch, that can in some cases lead to questions. So if your bank in Slovenia doesn't have your Czech address on file, now would be a good time to update.

Generally not a problem, especially if we're just talking about two different EU member states.
